Eat Out, Help Out: Dollar a Dish for Food 4 Kids Backpack Program

Here at Meandering Eats, we like to eat out a lot. So, when an opportunity comes to eat out and benefit a local organization, we're all over it.

The Food 4 Kids Backpack Program was originally started by two of San Diego's own food bloggers, Alice of Alice Q. Foodie and Caron of San Diego Foodstuff. The program raised funds to ensure that children without access to regular meals received a backpack full of food to tide them over during weekends and holidays when school meals were not available.

The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is taking the reins for the program this year and many San Diego restaurants and food trucks have signed on to donate one dollar whenever a specific dish is ordered throughout the month of August.

Take a look at the list below and stop by one of these fabulous eateries to order a great dish to benefit Food 4 Kids!

What a fun program. As a new resident of San Diego I'm always excited to get more ideas of how to get out on the town and help the community!
